The adapa Sustainability Report 2021!

It is with great pleasure that we present this 2021 Sustainability Report under our new company name adapa. It derives from “adaptive packaging” and underscores one of our Group’s core values, which is to positively adapt to a changing world.

Sustainability is at the core of our actions!

As a producer of flexible packaging, we take responsibility for enabling the shift from a linear to a circular economy. Without a doubt, the circularity of plastics is critical to reducing actual and potential environmental impacts and increasing resource efficiency. The urgency to pave the way for a circular economy is reflected in the constant tightening of legislation on packaging and recycling. We are closely monitoring developments and working proactively within our Group, with customers, and recyclers to meet future requirements.

In our detailed, well-thought-out Sustainability Strategy 2025, developed by us in close cooperation
with our newly formed Sustainability Steering Committee in 2021, we focus on five pillars.

  • Responsibility takes centre stage as we take care of our employees, business conduct, products, and the impact of our business activities on the environment.

The remaining four pillars outline our fields of action:

  • Replacement of conventional concepts with new and alternative raw materials,
  • Reduction of plastics while maintaining the highest product protection and processing quality,
  • Design for Recycling of our solutions, and
  • Renewal, meaning the use of second generation renewable raw materials.

In our daily activities, we follow our holistic 4P approach, focusing on Purpose while keeping People, Planet, and Prosperity in mind. To us, protecting essential goods is just as important as taking responsibility for the impact of our business along the entire value chain – employees, consumers, and partners – as well as on our environment.

All these efforts go together with our expressed commitment to the United Nations Global Compact and our continuous support of this initiative and its ten principles that we wish to renew. This entails setting precise objectives and communicating them transparently, for instance with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative, the most widely accepted international guidelines for sustainability reporting.
We also aim to further cultivate our partnerships by advancing our agile innovation management and collaborating with organisations that contribute to our common goals.

In our revised company strategy, sustainability and our values remain at the heart of everything we do and will continue to do so in the future. We are excited about our journey ahead and would like to express our sincere thanks to our employees for their incredible dedication this past year.
